Hesley Hirst (Wark)
The ruins of the long-abandoned farm of Hesley Hirst stand on a spur of land on the south side of the Houxty Burn. There is a stone enclosure containing two ranges of buildings, including a hay barn and other structures of 18th or early 19th century date. Two other structures, with thick stone walls, may be the remains of a late 16th or early 17th century bastles.
