Edge House Roman period settlement (Hexhamshire and District)
[NY 8914 5984] Ditched enclosure visible on aerial photographs. (1)
The remains consist of a sub-rectangular enclosure with a well defined outer ditch (approx 0.8m deep) on two sides, and traces of a double rampart on the north. Inside, is one complete hut-circle, and the probable remains of two others. Surface quarrying has destroyed part of the north side and interior. The site is typical of the small native type homestead which in this area, are classified as Romano-British. Surveyed at 1/2500. (2)

Rectilinear stone-built enclosure, within a single ditch and with foundations of three round houses. The site is especially noted as further removed from a main river system than others of the same nature in the county, and in an area where few other prehistoric settlements have been recorded. (4)
