Range of workshops at Beaumont Mine (Allendale)
A range of workshops on the east side of the lead ore works at Allenheads were built in the mid 19th century. They include an hydraulic engine, built by Armstrong of Newcastle in 1847, that was used for pumping in the mine workings and later to operate the estate saw mill. It is one of the earliest hydraulic engines known to survive. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
