Intakehead lime kiln (Allendale)

Lime kiln in good condition: one pot, partly filled; one draw arch with one eye. Medium sized. Drystone wall. (1)

Old lime kiln in north bank of Black Cleugh, beside track to Intake Head, Grade II. Probably early 19th century. Squared rubble. Sub-circular kiln built into steep hillside. Single corbelled drawing arch. Coping of larger blocks. (2)

Plan, elevation and section of small kiln with one arch and one pot. Scale 1:50. (3)

A small, early 19th century 'farmers' limekiln built into a steep hillside beside the track to Intakehead. Not accessible. (4)

Site remains inaccessible; a padlocked gate with guard dogs. Site not seen during 2000 survey. Duplicate site. (5)
