Chirdon deserted medieval village (Tarset with Greystead)

The manor of Chirdon belonged to the liberty of Tynedale in the 13th century. The manor is recorded as being burnt down by the Scots in 326 but no other details are known about it. A survey made in 1604 recorded four Crown tenants and four others but there has only been one farm there since the 19th century.
