Ruined bastle east of Stone Hall Farmhouse (Henshaw)
These ruins are of a 16th or early 17th century bastle. It measures 9.1m long by 6.6m wide with walls over one metre thick in places. Two of the bastle walls still stand to their full height, the other two just to first floor level. Although the bastle has been altered at least once in its life, there are still many original features to be seen, such as a byre doorway in the west gable, a quenching hole, first floor wall cupboard and small windows or loops. This was probably a fairly conventional sort of bastle but is now ruined and roofless. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
