Roman altar (Henshaw)
(NY 7545 6395) An inscribed Roman altar found in 1838 (no 1638) in the foundations of a cottage at Hardriding, 1-3/4 miles south west of Chesterholm fort, is now in Chesters Museum. Professor Birley suggests that it probably came from a local shrine to Cocidius rather than from the fort site. (1)
