Haltwhistle Market Place (Haltwhistle)
Haltwhistle has been allowed to hold markets and fairs from medieval times. They began when Edward I gave permission to William de Roos in 1306. The first markets were probably held on an open space in front of the church. Today's market place is now surrounded by, and partly infilled with, buildings.
