Stanegate Roman road from Once Brewed to south side of the B6318 (Henshaw; Melkridge)
The Stanegate was the main east-west Roman road along the Tyne valley and runs south of Hadrian's Wall. This section runs through the middle of Seatsides 1 temporary camp and can be seen as an earthwork feature. In places it measures over 11m wide and stands 90cm high. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
