Stanegate Roman road at Haltwhistle Burn (Haltwhistle)
The Stanegate was the main east-west Roman road and runs south of Hadrian's Wall. As it approaches the Haltwhistle Burn it can be seen as a ridge about 8m wide with a ditch on each side. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
