Yett Burn shieling, Falstone Forest (Falstone)

NY 6109 8446. Shieling remains. One room 16 x 15-3/4 ft. (See NY 68 SW 1). (1)

Situated at NY 6109 8444 at about 320m OD in the sheltered valley floor of the Yett Burn the remains of this roughly oval, single-roomed shieling measure 5.5m by 4.7m. It is formed by drystone walling 0.6m wide, maximum height 0.7m, tumbled and turf covered in the north west and with an entrance 0.9m wide in the south west. Surveyed at 1:10,000. (2)
