Post-medieval shieling near the Lewis Burn, Kielder (Kielder)
At some time in the post-medieval period, farmers built this shieling next to another shieling, on the north banks of the Lewis Burn. The shielings were used during the warmer months of the year, when animals were brought to the uplands to graze. Today the shieling is ruined.
