North court and graveyard, Inner Farne (North Sunderland and Seahouses)
The original entrance into the monastic complex on Inner Farne was through the north court. It is surrounded by a stone wall, part of which has collapsed since the mid-19th century, that once joined the north wall of Prior Castell's tower. The court is shown on a 17th century map of the island. Some excavations here in the 1930s exposed the wall foundation in two places. A 19th century account records that it contained a graveyard. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
