Anti-Glider Trenches or practice trenches at Beadnell (Beadnell)
These trenches are visible on an aerial photograph of this area. They are probably trenches dug during World War II (1939-45) to prevent possible invading German gliders from landing in the area. Geophysical survey in 2015 suggests these may be the remains of First World War practice trenches. (1-5)
An area of 20th Century and Second World War trenches and a weapons pit are visible as earthworks on air photographs, centred at NU 2325 2899. A number of the trenches are probably First World War in construction and re-used during the Second World War. Elements are still extant on the latest 1999 Ordnance Survey vertical photography. (6)
