Bronze Age burials at Low Stead Farm (Longhoughton)
(NU 25811617) Several cists, in one of which were an urn and some bones, were dug up in 1836 about 250 yds south east of the camp (NU 21 NE 3) on a round hill on Low Stead Farm. (1)(2)
Partly destroyed food vessel found 1836 now in Alnwick Castle Museum, Case C, No 13. (3)
There are no surface indications of these cists. The situation is on a slight rise with a good all-round view. The ground is under pasture. (4)
Food vessel urn from Low Stead Farm, said to have had an ornamented cover when discovered. Only base and lower part. Decorated. In Alnwick Castle Museum. (5)
