Little Houghton deserted medieval village (Longhoughton)

The medieval village of Little Houghton is mentioned in a document written in 1296. Parts of the village may survive as earthworks near Littlehoughton Hall, where ridge and furrow and a hollow way can also be seen. Archaeologists call medieval settlements which have been abandoned `deserted medieval villages'.
