Site Details

Marygate (Holy Island)

Excavations by archaeologists at this site to the west of the Castle Hotel found traces of an early Neolithic building. These remains included gullies, slots and post-holes. The later traces of a medieval building were also found, with pottery dating from the 14th to 17th century.
