About 200 pygmy flints, and the same number of pottery sherds, representing at least ten Bell (2) beakers, and three food vessels, together with indications of associated burials were found by P Brewis and F Buckley in 1924. All came from one site on a slight ridge, apparently an old land surface, on Ross Links, less than a quarter of a mile from the north side of Budle Bay (Area NU 145365).
The bronze pin from an Early Iron Age penannular brooch was also found (now in British Museum).
A little to the east, a layer of fire-blackened sand 8ft below the top of a sand dune yielded over 50 Late Bronze Age cinerary urn sherds together with three quartzite hammers, and traces of burnt bones. Most of the finds are in the Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle. (1)(2)

A leaf-shaped arrowhead was found in the same area on July 21st 1927 and donated to the Museum. (3)

The area is one of sand dunes and rough pasture. No feature answering the above description could be identified, and no eroded patches likely to yield flints noted. Listed by Wymer. (4)
