Bronze Age axe hammer, Brownieside (Ellingham)

Polished stone axe hammer 8-1/2ins x 4-1/4ins x 3/4ins deep with hour glass perforation found c.1860-1880 on Brownyside Moor, North Charlton. Donated to Society of Antiquaries Newcastle by Mr A F Thorp, Treport, Stocksfield, son of the finder. (1)

Brownyside Moor is another name for Brownyside Hill (OS 6ins Name centred NU 16162381).
Not on show at Blackgate Museum, Newcastle. (2)
