Newham Bog bronze vessels (Ellingham)

Three bronze vessels found in Newham Bog in 1871. Two of the vessels are now in Alnwick Castle Museum. Case 'G' Nos 737 and 738. (Listed as Roman). (1)

Present location of two of the three vessels is as above; the location of the third is not known. The flat bottomed vessel is Roman in appearance, but the other is an Anglo Saxon hanging bowl of circa 6th to 7th century AD apparently mis-classified as Roman at an early date. (2)

Newham Bog is centred at NU 169294 otherwise no further information. (3)
