Whittle Quarry Limekiln (Newton-on-the-Moor and Swarland)
Two lime kilns stand at this site. They are in poor condition and probably belong to the early 19th century. Limestone was burnt in these kilns to make lime, which was used to make cement or improve soil quality. They are Grade II Listed Buildings protected by law.
