An extensive area of quarrying at the freestone quarry, Millstone Burn. There is particularly a lot of quarrying on the western bank of the Burn where it is much steeper and offers good exposures of large beds of Fell Sandstone. There are no traces of millstone hollows or abandoned roughouts as at Snook Bank quarry. It was in use during the enclosure of the hill circa 1855. It extends for approximately 700m and a deep worn track runs south up the western side of the burn valley towards the top of the rock beds and on to Longframlington. (1)

The location of the quarry was noted on the 1866 Ordnance Survey map, but not labelled as such. Historic mapping shows the quarry extending no further than 40m, which is supported by aerial imagery of 2002. (2)
