Enclosed Roman settlement 450m north-east of Belford Mains (Belford with Middleton)

Faint remains of a sub-rectangular camp approximately 66ft by 77ft, with an entrance on the east side placed about 1/3 from the south east angle. (2)
The site falls on a slight rise in an arable field, and is marked only by a slight stone scatter. MacLauchlan's description, however, approximates to that of a local type of rectilinear homestead classified by Jobey as Romano-British. (3)
An Iron Age/Roman enclosed settlement, centred at NU 0991 3265, is visible as a cropmark on air photographs. It consists of a rectangular enclosure ditch that measures between 3m and 5m in width. It encloses an area of 0.47ha. A portion of the ditch to the north-west is not visible on the air photographs available. There is an entrance mid-way along the east side. (4) (5a)
