Holburn (Lowick)

NU 041362: Deserted Medieval Village at Holburn. (1)

Holburn deserted medieval village; former village site. Documentary references: 1242, 1296, 1313, 1377, 1580, 1602. Medieval village site was occupied by a large farm-hamlet in 19th century. Depopulation occurred since. (2)

Centred at NU 044 362 is a large tract of ridge and furrow cultivation associated with Holburn shrunken village. (3)
