Stone Cross (Bewick)

[NU 06792215] Built into the south-west corner of Holy Trinity Church porch is part of an Anglian cross shaft with triple beads at each angle, and a socketed joint. (1)

A badly weathered stone 0.4m square in section, and 0.65m high, with a shallow basin in the top. If it is a cross shaft fragment, as seems likely, it was probably later utilised as a plague stone. See photograph. (2)

Not listed as a Saxon fragment. (3a)
