Trickley and Newtown deserted medieval village, Lilburn (Tillside)
Trickley, or Trikulton, is mentioned in a document written in 1270. In 1296 Trickley had three taxpayers. By 1388 it had been destroyed by the Scots. Newtown is first mentioned in a document written in 1580. Newtown was founded just south east of the former village of Trickley, which by 1769 was reduced to one farm.
