Bronze axe from Warton (Snitter)

In a field at Warton, in 1897, William Lindsay found a bronze socketed celt. 3 3/8 inches long, 2 inches wide at the cutting edge. It is now in the Cragside collection. (2)
Now in St Alban's Museum. (3)
The area, sited by Authority 1, falls across a pasture and a ploughed field either side of a modern road upon the top of a rise of ground. No traces of antiquity are to be seen. (Present location of find not confirmed). (4)
