Prehistoric pit, north of Felton (Felton)
A strip and record excavation on land north of Felton in 2016-17 identified a prehistoric midden pit in the north-east corner of the site. It contained the fragmentary remains of up to three vessels of mid to late Neolithic date, charcoal and hazelnut shells. The pottery sherds included pieces from two Fengate Ware vessels and from a thick-walled vessel. The pit had been heavily truncated by plough action and was cut by two later postholes from the overlying Anglo-Saxon settlement.
