Initially owned by the Newcastle and Berwick Railway, then the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway from 9 August 1847, the North Eastern Railway from 1854, the London and North Eastern Railway from 1923 and British Railways from 1948. The branch from Tweedmouth to Kelso was opened as far as Sprouston on 27 July 1849 and reached Kelso on 1 June 1851. The line connected with the North British railway at Sprouston Junction. Closed to passengers 15 June 1964 and to goods 29 March 1965. (3)

Norham Station was located on the down platform. A wooden waiting shelter and, after 1900, was located on the up platform side. There was also a goods shed. All the site has been preserved by a former station master, with the whole complex a museum of rail and non-rail ephemera, including signal box, lime depot, goods shed and signals. (5)
