Crookham Deserted Medieval Village (Ford)
Crookham was a member of the barony of Muschamp (Wooler). 1296: 13 taxpayers. 1312/13: ten taxpayers. Poll Tax returns of 1377: 24 adults. Ford Court Rolls of 1669: 49 tenants. 1707: 36 tenants.
The village was mapped and surveyed in the 1760s. The village comprised two rows of buildings either side of a town gate with crofts behind. The modern village has the same general layout of the main street. (1)
The location of the townfields is suggested immediately around the village in the north-east of the township. (2)
