Anglo-Saxon Cross (Wooler)

Small Anglo-Saxon cross fragment discovered at Wooler (NT 9928) c.1884 'in taking down some dykes for the purposes of the new railway forming there'. (Kept by Mrs Short at Wooler Mill). (1)

Cross head now in Monks' Dormitary, Durham Cathedral. Measures 0.33m x 0.266m x 0.12m deep. One arm lost, rest damaged and worn. Date, 11th century. (2)
