St Mary Magdalene's Hospital (Wooler)

Little is known of the hospital of St Mary Magdalene at Wooler. It is first mentioned in 1288 when one Richard was master. In 1302 Adam of Sherburn was appointed master by the king, and the only other master mentioned is William of Bamburgh who in 1342 was given the custody of the hospital for life. The hospital is mentioned in 1399 and 1490, after which it disappears from all recorded history. (1)
