Bronze Age Burial Cairn (Alnham)
Possible Bronze Age burial cairn. An undisturbed cairn lies 10m east of farm road. Circular, 5.9m diameter, stands to a height of 0.3m. Outer edge defined by a kerb of large boulders. Internal stone filling is not quite level with the top of kerb stones. On a slight knoll with rising ground to south and north. (1)
A prominent cairn at 285m OD lies only 4m E of the modern road on the valley bottom between two natural ridges. It is 7.0m in overall diameter, kerbed with unworked boulders for most of its circuit. On
average it is 0.3m high but one boulder in the E is 0.7m by 0.6m by 0.5m high. The interior of the cairn is silted and turfed almost to the kerb line. (2a)
