Caistron (Hepple)

This is the site of the deserted medieval village of Caistron. It was first recorded in the mid-12th century and was occupied until the early 19th century. A few earthworks to the east of the modern farmhouse can be seen and includes an enclosure which runs down to the bank of the River Coquet.
