Blyth and Tyne Railway (Blyth)
The railway from Blyth was built in 1847. It ran to Newsham, Hartley and Seghill, as well as the docks at North Shields. Its main role was to move coal from the many local coalmines. It was connected to Newcastle in 1864. Passenger services were finally ended in 1964. Little of the railway survives to be seen today.
