Prehistoric Axe (Seaton Valley)

Polished stone axehead. Secondary Neolithic found Holywell/Seaton Delaval. Presented to the Museum of Antiquities Newcastle by Mr A P Thompson. Acc No 1963.8. (1)

Mr Thompson says that the axehead was found in February 1963 by workmen removing an underground cable. (2)

The find is noted within an archaeological survey of Seaton Delaval Hall by Archaeological Services Durham University carried out in 2011. No further details are given of this find. (3)
