Ace of Spades (Widdrington Station and Stobswood)

Dragline excavator built in the 1980s at a cost of £15 million. The excavator weighs 4000 tons, has a total machine power of 15,690 horsepower and bucket capacity of 1755 cubic feet. (1)

In 2002 the Ace of Spades dragline excavator was retired and in 2008 was broken down into manageable pieces and stored at the Port of Blyth before being loaded on to a vessel for transport to its new home in the United States. (2)(3)
