This is the site of a tileworks. The first edition Ordnance Survey mapping of the area shows a large clay pit, horse engine called a gin gang and buildings. The position of the kiln used is not specifically named - but it is likely one of the two almost circular features shown near the East Coast Main Line. The site mainly later reverted back to being farmland. The tileworks at Hepscott is marked on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1865. The clay pit seems to have filled with water as a pond.
