Brinkheugh deserted medieval settlement (Brinkburn and Hesleyhurst)

Centred NZ 12159840. In the pasture field south of the house, [Brinkheugh] are traces typical of depopulation. Low banks divide the area into crofts while vague platforms probably represent buried foundations. The area concerned is small and the remains are probably those of a small hamlet. No significant field names were discerned. Reason for depopulation not ascertained. (1)

The remains are limited to hummocky ground and fragmentary banks, which form no coherent pattern. (2)
