Bronze Age burial cairn (Brinkburn and Hesleyhurst)
['A' NZ 13369834; 'B' NZ 13369826] Cists found. Sitings approximate due to small scale of plan. (1)
Farther to the eastward [of tumulus NZ 19 NW 3] on his farm, near the junction of the Todburn with the Coquet, Mr Robert Leighton destroyed another cairn similar to the above, and with similar contents [tumulus NZ 19 NW 3] contained a red pottery urn within a cist, filled with burnt bones]. About 90 yards south of it, he ploughed up a large flat stone of about 7 feet long and 3 feet wide. There was no cist here, nor any urn or bones, but the soil under the stone was different from that surrounding it, and of a fine dark nature. These disturbances took place about 1817. (2)
No surface indications of these finds. The site is on the edge of the high ground. Present locations of finds not ascertained. (3)
