Race Course (Morpeth)

This was the site of Morpeth racecourse, established in 1730. It is shown on a town plan of 1796. There is no evidence of any associated buildings, such as a grandstand. In the 19th century races were held four days in each year in the first week of September. Large parts of the course can still be seen.
