Pillboxes around Mitford (Hebron; Mitford)

The pillboxes are situated at NZ 1688 8545, NZ 1724 8574, NZ 1751 8622, and NZ 1758 8631. (2)
Four pillboxes built during the 1939-45 war; two to the north and two to the south of the village. All are of the same design - an irregular hexagon with two of the sides longer than the others. They each have a door protected by a porch and have nine loops. This group is worth preserving as an example of their siting and an extension of the function of the medieval castle. Internal diameter 15ft x 10ft. (3)
