West Ritton Grange (Nunnykirk)
Grange of Newminster at West Ritton. (1)
Grange at Westritton. (2)
Ranulph de Merlay, in the time of Henry I, gave Rittun, consisting of the two townships East and West Ritton, to the Abbot of Newminster. (3)
Enquiries revealed no local traditions, significant field names, or other information regarding this grange.
The name West Ritton is not locally known. There is a 'Ritton' some 1-3/4 miles to the ESE and it almost certain that West Ritton would be the present Ritton White House. (4)
