Bolam Low House (Belsay)

A rectangular earthwork, 128ft north-south, 121ft east-west, defined by a ditch on all four sides with a centrally placed entrance in the east, but no visible evidence of internal occupation. (2)
'Bolam Low House'. Single rampart. [Listed under Native Sites in Northumberland]. (3)
The remains of a sub-rectangular ditched enclosure mutilated by a modern drainage channel in the west, and reduced to a superficial depression in the south. It is unclassified by Jobey, but resembles his type 'C' (homesteads consisting of one or two huts within a rectangular enclosure expected to have been occupied at some stage of the Roman period). Published survey (25 inch) revised. (4)
Damaged in medieval times. Entrance in east. Area 0.14ha. (5)
