Rothley (Rothley with Hollinghill)
NZ 044880 deserted medieval village at Rothley. (1)
Indications of depopulation visible on aerial photographs. (2)
Area centred NZ 04278805. Traces of extensive depopulation, consisting of fragmentary banks and a few isolated building platforms, are visible in the field immediately to the south of the road to the present hamlet of Rothley, but extensive stone-robbing and quarrying have made these largely incoherent. To the north of the road the desertion appears to be fairly recent, with the ruins of two cottages still standing. (3)
