Chapel Farm (Rothley with Hollinghill)

The farm at Kirkhill (NZ 024880) takes its name from the chapel of Hartington, which stood adjoining the road from Hartington Hall to Oak Ford Bridge. The west end still stands as the present gable wall between the stable and cottage. (1)

NZ 02408803. There are no visible remains of the chapel, the gable-end noted by Hodgson having apparently been rebuilt. The siting however, is supported by the presence of carved stones, and a medieval grave cover built into an adjoining outbuilding, and garden wall respectively. (2)
