Ryal lime kiln (Matfen)
This lime kiln was built in the early 19th century. This is a Grade II Listed Building. (1-2)
Early 19th century limekiln, dressed stone. Three corbelled triangular openings round-headed draw holes behind. Brick-lined pot in inverted cone shape. Kiln located c.440 yards east of Ryal. (3)
A post medieval lime kiln is visible as a structure on air photographs at NZ 0221 7436. It is extant on the latest 2000 oblique photography. (4a)
