Kirkheaton Colliery (Capheaton)
The colliery first appears on the second edition Ordnance Survey map of 1895 but was disused by the third edition in 1921. To the north of the entrance shaft and its associated buildings was a row of six workers' houses and three outbuildings. RAF photographs from 1947 show these still upstanding, but by 1959 most of the row had been demolished, and none survives today.
