Prudhoe (Prudhoe)

The earliest records of Prudhoe date to 1195-1226. The size of the village remained unaltered throughout much of the medieval period. It was probably partly re-organised in the 17th century. Prudhoe gained its importance from its castle. Although was important it was not until the second half of the 19th century that it had a major effect on the town.
