Ovingham Ferry (Ovingham; Prudhoe)
A ferry was first recorded at Ovingham in 1586. In 1608 the boathouse was in Prudhoe, but by 1652 it was in Ovingham. This was swept away in the great flood of 1771. The ferry was the only way of crossing the bridge until 1883.
